The Zonta Club of Key West offers many valuable community service and advocacy projects in our Key West Community that are consistent with our mission to build a better world for women and girls. Here are our top priorities.

ADVANCING THE HEALTH STATUS AND SAFETY OF WOMEN
Heart Health Initiative
The Zonta Club of Key West launched its Heart Health Initiative in 2012 in partnership with WomanKind.
Since its inception, Zonta has donated $16,870 so that 337 women in our community could access life-saving comprehensive blood screenings. Heart disease doesn’t care who you are, where you live or what you wear– it’s the #1 killer of women. Zonta Key West provides FREE comprehensive blood screenings in March and April each year to up to 80 women in our community regardless of income or insurance status. The screenings include: (1) blood pressure check; (2) blood screenings (complete blood count, thyroid, metabolic panel and total lipid panel); and (3) BMI (body mass index, an indicator of risk and a follow-up consultation on the results). “Zonta Says No” to Violence Against Women Campaign
For more than 100 years, Zonta International has contributed to help achieve a world free of violence against women and girls through service and advocacy. Zonta Says No to Violence Against Women is 16 Days of Activism from November 25th to December 10th. The Zonta Club of Key West participates by tying orange ribbons around the beautiful royal palm tress that align Roosevelt Blvd. The City of Key West provides a Zonta Says No proclamation to show support in early November each year.

Mammogram and Women’s Health Screening Program
The Zonta Club of Key West provides FREE mammograms all year long to under-insured and uninsured women in Key West and the Lower Keys. The Annual Zonta Key West ABC (Awareness Breast Cancer) 5K Walk/Run the first Saturday in November funds this program.
